The Mariana Trench

At some point in our lives we have all heard of the Mariana Trench, because someone told us that they are the deepest point of the planet. Today we tell more about this natural accident.

A pit is, in short, a well or pit on the ocean floor. In particular, the Mariana Trench is located near Japan in the Pacific Ocean, the ocean with the highest number of mass due to its location on the boundary of two tectonic plates: the Philippine and Pacific. The pits occur when one tectonic plate oceanic crust cover overlaps with another plate of the same features. The overlap of the two plates form the pit.
