If you believe you can’t afford to see New York at least one, you probably don’t know how affordable a hostel is in the city. Would you really pass up the chance to visit Manhattan and see the Empire State Building, Central Park, Times Square, and the trendy neighborhoods of Greenwich Village and SoHo when you can stay at places like the Urban Oasis for under $50 a night for a private room with shared facilities? Not all of the New York hostels are in Manhattan. If you were interested in visiting Queens, the Flushing YMCA is affordable and those staying at the hostel can use the YMCA’s swimming pools, fitness training center, gymnasium, racquetball and squash courts, sauna and steam room. Queens is a great part the the city to stay, each neighborhood in Queens is different. You’ll find Indian neighborhoods, Mexican neighborhoods, and more and each neighborhood has its own ethnic shops and restaurants. A hostel in Brooklyn is also desirable. Brooklyn is home to the Coney Island Cyclone,one of the world’s oldest and still operating wooden roller coasters, and a New York City landmark.

No matter which borough you stay in, you’ll find the city far more affordable when you stay at a hostel instead of a hotel. Hostels have come a long way, few feature mass dormitories, many are just like a one or two star hotel. No matter what hostel you choose, there is likely to be convenient public transportation to get you to all the city’s landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, the Staten Island Ferry, the Guggenheim, even a Broadway show since you’ve saved all that money by forgoing the city’s expensive hotels.

No one stay in their room when they are visiting New York so why pay expensive room rates for a place you will just use for sleeping. You can get a comfortable, clean bed at a hostel, just be sure to read the accommodations reviews to make sure they have a nice supply of clean linens and comfortable bedding. You’ll get to see New York without spending a fortune to do so if you plan ahead and book yourself a room at a hostel.
