PEAT International is planning to construct a plasma-arc incineration facility in Anderson, Indiana.
The facility will incinerate medical waste as well as other types of toxic materials such as nickel cadmium batteries and fluorescent tubes.
The plant allows gases containing heavy metals such as mercury to be released into the air we breathe.
There are no incinerators of this kind in the United States.
